Identity & Branding
The San Francisco Film Society runs the San Francisco International Film Festival and was first held in December of 1957. It is the longest-running film festival in the Americas showcasing more than 200+ films over the course of 15 days. These branding materials represented the celebration of its 50th year showcasing innovation and film in San Francisco. 2007 marked this 50th year and The San Francisco Film Society wanted to make it's 50th clearly apparent in the branding materials for the festival. The dates 1957 - 2007 was the main inspiration for these designs. Typographically representing these important dates but also representing other important dates between these years through the use of graphic lines is main component of this brand. These graphic lines are then over-layed on top of upcoming films included in the festival. It was important to use the "50" mark on its own to be used a seal for other collateral materials and is stylized after an odometer which moves forward in numerical order. Friends/Collaborators: Robert Murdock, Method.
